Biography
Silvia works from her studio in Pelago, Tuscany. Her interest in natural elements has accompanied her since childhood and has developed over time through the collection and observation of plants, leaves and materials found in the surrounding area.
She approached ecoprinting through specialised training in botanical printing, later exploring its techniques and possibilities through personal experimentation. This led to the creation of Cuorofilla, a name that combines the Italian words for heart and chlorophyll, expressing the connection between her sensitivity and the plant world.
The local landscape is more than a place from which to gather materials. The characteristics of the soil influence the plants and the quality of the impressions they leave on fabric. Over time, she has learned to identify the most suitable locations and select plant materials according to the desired result.
Technique & Process
The process begins with the selection of natural textiles made from plant- or animal-based fibres. Before printing, each fabric is washed and treated with a solution that allows the colours and botanical impressions to bond with the fibres.
Leaves, flowers and roots are selected for their dyeing properties and the effects they can produce. Some plants transfer their shapes directly, while others create resist and negative effects in combination with colour. The dyes are obtained from plant materials, selected extracts and food waste.
Gathering follows the cycle of the seasons. When leaves are most abundant, some are frozen or dried so that they can be used during the winter and in different processes.
The compositions may begin with a preliminary study or develop during the process in response to the chosen materials. The clarity of the botanical impressions is the defining feature of Cuorofilla’s work: the form of the plant remains clearly visible on the fabric, while the natural variations in fibres and pigments make each creation unique.

Textile Artworks
Cuorofilla’s textile artworks emerge from the encounter between natural fibres and botanical elements. Leaves, flowers and natural pigments imprint shapes, traces and nuances directly onto the fabric through the ecoprint technique. Raw silk and cotton velvet become unique surfaces, where nature leaves a different mark each time.
Cushions
In Cuorofilla’s cushions, ecoprint brings leaves, flowers and natural colours into everyday objects. Cotton and cotton velvet capture the imprints and nuances of botanical elements directly on the fabric, creating textiles in which every variation is an integral part of the artisanal process.
