Su Stampu de Su Turrunu

Su Stampu de Su Turrunug is one of the most complex pieces — a woven reflection on balance, memory and place. The composition divides the surface in two: the upper field in muted rose holds a vertical rhythm of lines that rise like a city or mountain range; below, on deep teal, the same lines fall in reverse, as if reflected in water. Scattered golden wave motifs on the lower half suggest movement, currents, time passing beneath the surface.

Woven entirely by hand on a horizontal loom, the rug demands a high level of control: each vertical bar and its reflection is counted and placed, the colour changes are frequent, and the overall structure must remain flat and stable. This density of labour per square metre, together with the scale and narrative ambition of the piece, is reflected in its higher price point.

Despite its graphic strength, the palette keeps the rug gentle and versatile: the soft rose reads almost like earth or sky at dusk, while the teal ground anchors the composition in a cooler, calmer register. It’s a statement piece for living rooms, bedrooms or hospitality spaces that can accommodate a work of design that is also, quietly, a textile painting.
