Orbital Mosaic

Orbital Mosaic is a large‑scale study of colour, curvature and material juxtaposition. The circular format stages a mosaic of small, handwoven fragments—rich velvets, patterned brocades, and varied woven structures—interrupted and defined by cork bands that form sinuous paths across the surface. Velvet pieces provide moments of deep, soft sheen; patterned trims and jacquards introduce metallic threads and fine ornament; cork offers a dry, tactile counterpoint and graphic clarity. The result is a layered surface in which light and shadow shift with viewing angle, producing a dynamic interplay between softness and structure.

Presented visibly on a broad matte dark passe‑partout, the work reads as a contemporary mandala or stitched landscape. The presentation emphasises artisanal details—hand‑stitched joins, subtle colour gradations, cut edges and applied cork—that verify its manual making. Produced with carefully selected natural fibers and premium materials, this one‑off is conceived as a museum‑quality statement piece and the standout object within the collection.

Production

• Handmade production time: extensive; developed in stages—from concept and full‑scale layout to vertical loom weaving, appliqué, cork application and final assembly. Production can require several weeks depending on material availability and finishing.

Care & warranty  

• Dust regularly with a soft brush or low‑suction vacuum using a textile nozzle.  
• Avoid prolonged direct sunlight, extreme heat and high humidity to preserve fibres, velvet pile and cork.  
• For stains, contact a professional textile conservator; do not attempt aggressive home cleaning.
