Meridian Weave

Meridian Weave is a compact study of line, surface and material contrast. The design combines handwoven panels, narrow tapestry strips and textured fabrics with hand‑cut cork banding that outlines interlocking diamond motifs and smaller geometric fields. The textile inserts — coarse weaves, herringbones, jacquards, looped and plain structures — offer varied grain and sheen without the use of pile. Cork provides an earthy, matte counterpoint, introducing crisp linear definition and tactile relief. The careful placement of colour and texture produces subtle directional movement across the panel while the cork bands supply architectural clarity.

Mounted visibly on a broad matte passe‑partout, the piece reads as a stitched relief or miniature map. The restrained framing highlights craft details: hand‑stitched joins, slight colour shifts, selvedge and trimmed edges that confirm its handmade origin. Produced with Sardinian and locally sourced natural fibres and traditional techniques reinterpreted for contemporary expression, each work is unique. Ideal as a focused accent above a console, in a study or within a curated gallery wall.

Production

Care & warranty  

• Dust gently with a soft brush or low‑suction vacuum using a textile nozzle.  
• Avoid prolonged direct sunlight, extreme heat and high humidity to preserve fibres, colours and cork.  
• For stains, consult a professional textile conservator; spot cleaning only is recommended.  

Meridian Weave investigates the meeting of geometric order and material tactility: cork and varied woven structures combine to record the maker’s hand and invite slow looking. Each irregularity is a trace of craft that gives the piece presence and longevity.
